WE ARE A GRASS Based CERTIFIED ORGANIC FARM. ALL OF THESE WORDS ARE IMPORTANT. Organic means that we test our soils for nutrients such as calcium and add amendments such as high calcium lime when necessary

our Farm fixations consultant, who is a Midwest Bio-Ag dealer, helps with this. We also add our own animals’ manure as a valuable fertilizer to aid in building and maintaining a high level of organic matter. Both wind and water erosion is prevented by using minimal tillage and seldom having bare soils. With the help of Welter Seed & Honey and Prairie creek Seeds, we carefully choose non-GMO and non chemically treated seeds to plant.

These seeds grow into crops of forages such as grass, clovers, fescue, and alfalfa that the cattle harvest themselves by grazing and we harvest as bales or haylage for the animals to eat during the winter. These crops do not receive pesticides, herbicides, or any other chemical. Our cattle do not receive any antibiotics, hormones, steroids, or insecticides. Illnesses and injuries are treated with organic products such as aloe and garlic tincture. If an animal requires antibiotics, she will be given it and then separated from the organic herd. The cattle are given free choice supplements of kelp which contains 21 micronutrients and iodine. They also receive Redmond salt and a customized mineral along with their forage.

the USDA has specifically set guidelines and rules called the National Organic Program (NOP) standards; which we meet and exceed. A third party certifying agency (we use MOSA) annually inspects our farm and records to ensure that we are indeed complying with these regulations.

You as a consumer can be confidant of our farming practices and the resulting high quality milk and meat products.
We don't farm organically because we are required to but
